Why hello my dear, I welcome you to Endless Smiles, a one page tribute dedicated to the handsome and charming hero Jack Vessalius of Pandora Hearts. This small tribute will give you the simple basics of Jack and his role in Pandora Hearts.

A quick warning of unmarked spoilers! I just want to give you a fair warning! The two main places I got my information from are Wikipedia and Pandora Hearts Wikia, as well as directly from the anime and manga.
I had a really hard time deciding to either make this shrine for Jack and Break, but in the end I decided that Jack was in need of some more love. ♥ So I created this little shrine for Amassment's One Page, One Month event. :)

Pandora Hearts main story line follows Oz Vessalius, a 15 year old boy who is the heir of the Vessalius dukedom. During his coming of age ceremony he is thrown into the Abyss by a hooded group, for reasons unknown other then Oz had committed a horrible sin. When he was cast into the abyss he met a girl named Alice who is an infamous chain also known as the Bloodstained Black Rabbit, or for short B-Rabbit. Alice offered to save him from the Abyss if he would accept a contract with her so she could have access to her full power and get them both out. The story revolves around the mystery of Alice and her missing memories, the Abyss, and the organization known as Pandora.

The insane things called chains are beings that come from the Abyss, each chain's goal is to sign a contract with a human. Although the contract does not last forever, each illegal contractor will have a clock marking appear over their heart. When the clock makes a full rotation, the human contractor would be swallowed up, along with the chain, and sent to the lowest part of the Abyss.

The Abyss is a place where time does not exist, it's an alternate dimension that can either take form of a broken toy box or a horrible prison. Usually people who have committed horrible crimes or sins are thrown in the Abyss. If a human is lucky enough to escape they would return to their human dimension, but at a completely random time frame. Usually resulting them farther in the future.

The place known as Sablier is where the, Tragedy of Sablier took place. Sablier was the thriving capital city of the world, but met a horrible end when the door to the Abyss was opened, this action caused the city and its citizens to be completely engulfed into the Abyss.

The organization known as Pandora specializes in researching the Abyss. They have many members within this organization, and was founded by the four dukedoms (Vessalius, Rainsworth, Nightray and Barma families).


Jack is widely known as the hero of Sablier, for the one who defeated Glen Baskerville 100 years ago. After killing Glen he and his family gained the highest nobility. He and originally came from the third rate noble family of Vessalius, and he was the third son of the family.
Jack is a mere human and has long golden braided hair and bright emerald eyes, you could say he looks like an older and more mature Oz. (and still just as cute). Back in his peaceful days, nothing big was expected from the Vessalius family so Jack had plenty of free time to roam around freely and live a simple carefree life.
In the present day of the series, Jack resides in Oz's body and is able to take complete control of the boy's body and speak to others through him. While he's in control of Oz's body Jack can also take full control over the powerful B-Rabbit's (aka Alice's) powers.

Taking a look at Jack's appearance, he stands at 180cm which is about 5'9'' tall, he has a beautiful long blonde plait that is about the same length as his body. The loose hair around his face sticks out in a spiky mess, his bangs hang in his face and he has the same hair curl as Oz as well. Jack has bright emerald eyes and almost matching his eyes he is seen wearing a green over coat with combining a black shirt and white pants. I personally think his color scheme is well put together and his features stand out a lot. Well what else can I possibly say, he's totally gorgeous.

Jack is usually seen with his classic cheerful smile on his face, although his personality has many different sides. His usual self is cheerful and loud often doing what he please, which is very similar to our younger hero Oz's personality. Although in a more stressful situation Jack becomes very serious and authoritative, being called 'scary' by Liam. Jack proves to be very intelligent and remains calm and focused in a battle situation. Aside from his serious side, Jack enjoyed flirting with the ladies and joking around, always having his charming smile on his face. Despite his age, being 25, he acts just like any other teenage boy. x3
100 years ago, Jack would visit his best friend Glen Baskerville on a daily basis and occasionally run into Lotti. He would flirt with girls and just run around at will, not having a care in the world. Jack and Glen built a musical pocket watch that played a song entitled Lacie, Glen composed the melody and Jack crafted the watch. Lacie was a person who was very important to Glen, so he created the song after her.
On the night of the tragedy, Glen ordered his followers, which included Lotti, to kill everyone within the castle of Sablier. Glen's reasoning was, that he believed without Lacie, there was no meaning to life. Jack confronts Glen, but he tries to kill Jack. Jack kills him for everything he has done and he becames a hero from then on. He also caused the Vessalius family to be viewed as a heroes as well, making them the replacement of the Baskervilles in the Four Great Dukedom. Even with all this fame and glory, Jack didn't want any of it writing in his journal, "I have killed my best friend. Please... Please do not call me a hero."

Jack was truly a great man, and even though he did not want to be called a hero for killing his best friend he could still be viewed as a hero. As someone who others look up to. Jack has a good heart, both then and present time. He was enraged when Lotti asked if Jack killed Glen just to gain fame, he would never do something like that and for her to think that caused him to show true anger during the battle between the chains. Not only this, but Jack is a natural born leader. He was able to make Pandora's members stop and listen to him and scare them just by giving them a speech as well as informing them of valuable information.

What I like the most about Jack, is in the anime's extras Jack always seems to play the comic relief character. Every time he pops up on the screen I instantly smile and laugh at whatever funny thing he winds up doing. Jack is one of those characters who just makes you smile and laugh, plus he's a pretty good looking guy so it just adds to his positive aura. For those who have seen or read Ouran High School Host Club, do you agree when I say he's A LOT like Tamaki Suou? ;)

Jack met Alice 100 years ago, she was locked up in the Baskervilles' tower by Glen for unknown reasons. Jack would come and visit Alice quite often, and all around spent a lot of time with her. Alice and The Will of the Abyss are actually twin sisters, the only difference is one was born in the human world and the other in the Abyss. Abyss has white hair and wears white clothes while Alice has darker hair and wears darker clothes. Alice's personality would drastically change, depending on who she was during the day, Alice was more un-feminine while the Abyss was soft spoken and gentle. Alice was very close to Jack and The Will Of The Abyss seems to be almost obsessed with Jack considering her insane personality.Jack also seems to hold a special place for Alice in his heart as well. Alice was murdered by getting fatally stabbed in her throat while Glen's followers were attacking everyone. Alice then lived in the Abyss after her death, although separate from The Will Of The Abyss, and became a chain herself. In the present day Jack is able to control Alice's powers through Oz. In an anime extra, Jack literally drops in on The Will of the Abyss's tea party and the two go off in their own dream world while holding hands. Who really knows what happens. xD

Jack and Glen Baskerville were best friends 100 years ago. The two are actually polar opposites of each other, Glen being quite, secluded, and 'dark' is best friends with a loud, happy-go-lucky, burst of sunshine Jack Vessalius. Either way the two were great friends creating a musical pocket watch together both contributing to it, Glen writing the song and Jack creating the watch. Lotti is rather surprised by their friendship since she had a personal liking towards Glen and a personal dislike for Jack, she must have also noticed how different the two men really were yet they still got along. In the end even though Jack killed Glen, Jack never wanted to do it and he was very sad about it. Though during Jack's speech to the Pandora members Jack said that Glen was still alive, and he would become the blade to defeat him once again.

Jack met Gilbert Nightray, 'Gil', and Vincent Nightray on the streets and so he took the two brothers under his wing. Vincent and Gil were cast to the streets because of Vincent's eyes, having his left eye golden and his right red which was said red eyes were to bring disaster. Jack obviously didn't care that Vincent had one red eyes and told Vincent that he loved his eye, and so Vincent adored Jack. The two brothers called Jack their master, and both were very fond of him. Jack attempted to introduce Gil and Vincent to Alice, but she made fun of Vincent's eye which caused Gil to get angry at her. Vincent hatred for Alice started there when Alice made Gil "show that kind of expression again". That hatred also caused his obsession with stabbing stuffed animals. Gil was killed by Glen protecting Jack, and so Vincent opened the door to the Abyss in order to save his dear brother but that action caused the Tragedy of Sablier to happen. During the time the Gil spent in the Cheshire's Dimension, Gil did not recognize Jack and called him Oz.

Jack resides in Oz Vessalius's body after their meeting in Cheshire's Dimension. The two look very similar, and even very similar personalities as well, both having a liking towards cute girls and often flirting with them. Oz turns to Jack when he is need of guidance, and allows him to take control over his body. The two both have a special place in their hearts for Alice, although it's hinted that Alice develops feelings towards the younger hero, Oz. ;)

Well here are my reasons, Jack is such a great character, he first caught my attention when we first get to see him in Alice's memory. I thought to myself, this guy looks rather interesting and he won me over when we first get to see his entire self and see his mature personality. Since you know, I think Oz is one of the cutest things out there and Jack is like the mature gorgeous version of him. So that's just a plus. xD No but really, what I really love about Jack is his personality he's a flirt and has a smile that's contagious and always makes me smile. :) I can really relate Jack to Tamaki and well, you know me, Tamaki Suou is my favorite thing in the world. &hearts
Why did I pick Endless Smiles for this site!? Well that's because every time I picture Jack or think about him I always see him with his big bright smile. :) Jack is one of my favorite characters from Pandora Hearts so when I'm in Pandora Hearts mode Jack is always popping up in my head and since I always see him smiling I went with the name, endless smiles. :)
